HFI launches Masterclass in Legal and Commercial issues for Middle East business ventures in August event in Aberdeen
HFI rolls out its new Masterclass in Legal and Commercial issues for Middle East business ventures in Aberdeen on 17 and 18 August. The programme is designed to give clients an intensive two day "survival programme" on the key legal and commercial issues which should be tackled when seeking to enter the MENA energy market or to ramp up across the region.
The programme was designed by HFI’s Group Managing Partner, Hugh Fraser (former Head of Legal at Wood Group) and UAE Managing Partner, Alex Bakhshov (the ex General Counsel at Vetco International/GE Oil & Gas), and covers key danger areas such as legal structures, location options & licensing, agency arrangements, managing risk in customer contracts, taxation & customs and employment & immigration.
Hugh explains "the over-riding objective is to provide our clients with an intensive "crash course" on the key issues they should have their arms around when entering the region or ramping up. The programme will look at over-arching lessons to be learned in advance rather than by mistakes and bitter and costly experience. It will also feature in depth analysis on key risk areas and include a number of case studies on how to do it and how not to! With energy projects in excess of US$1.5 trillion in the region the prize is substantial but too often opportunities are lost and business suffer due to lack of awareness of the key legal and commercial challenges.
We have drawn on 20 years experience in our times as General Counsels at Wood Group and Vetco International/GE Oil & Gas and the 7 years track record of HFI to bring together what we believe is a unique and valuable offering to the market."
The August event is being run in conjunction with Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce. A course brochure is available at www.hfi-international.com/training and booking can be made through jenny.robertson@gcc.co.uk.
The Masterclass is also being presented in Canada (Calgary), Norway (Oslo) and Australia (Perth) September, November and December respectively. Further details are available from susan.aitken@hfi-international.com
