Alex Bakhshov appointed to head HFI in UAE
Senior role for new managing partner designate
Hugh Fraser International (HFI) is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Bakhshov as senior specialist legal consultant to HFI. In this role he will be HFI’s UAE managing partner designate, a new position that he will take up in 2011. Alex is now responsible for legal client management and business management, freeing up Hugh Fraser to focus on international business development and networking, and client support.
Alex, a British national who speaks English, some French and some Arabic, will be based in HFI's Dubai office from 1 July 2010. He brings a wealth of valuable business and legal experience, which will be of great benefit to HFI clients - he was general counsel for Vetco Gray (now GE Oil & Gas) in London, and senior corporate counsel for O2, and was previously with Allen & Overy and Ashursts in London. A law graduate of Queen Mary College, London University, her was called to the Bar in 1997, and specialises in all aspects of international corporate law.
While at Vetco International Limited, General Electric Oil & Gas, Alex was responsible for complete in-house legal support for Global Services. Vetco International is the former upstream oil and gas services subsidiary of ABB, acquired by a private equity consortium in 2004. Vetco International has been established for over a hundred years as a recognized specialist provider of onshore and offshore oilfield equipment and services - with operational bases in 30 countries worldwide.
During his stint at Vetco, Alex managed £multi-million Long Term Services Agreements with clients in both Malaysia in Russia. As part of Vetco's commercial operations he worked on tenders for the provision of products and services for major producers such as BP, Shell, Exxon Mobil, Scotia Gas, British Gas, Chevron and major EPC contractors worldwide.
